The Southern Spirit

This unique Australian outback rail adventure, travelling between Brisbane and Adelaide via Sydney and Melbourne allows you to see and experience some of the most breathtaking sights Australia has to offer.

Guests experience travel in classic style and comfort combined with unparalleled personal attention, in either Gold or Platinum Service. Sumptuous meals are included, served en route in our Queen Adelaide Restaurant. Each journey incorporates a series of wayside stops and opportunity for off train excursions, visiting some of Australia’s most sought out destinations, both on and off the beaten track.

Day 1: Adelaide and The Grampians
Board The Southern Spirit in Adelaide to commence your journey through the Adelaide Hills on your way to your first Whistle Stop Tour in the picturesque Grampians. Reboard The Southern Spirit in Stawell where you can enjoy a pre dinner drink before being served dinner in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant. (LD)

Day 2: Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga
This morning starts with a delicious breakfast on board before arriving in Melbourne where you can leave the train and take in the sights. With those boarding in Melbourne joining us, lunch will be served while continuing your journey to the twin cities of Albury-Wodonga on the Murray River. Here you can enjoy a Whistle Stop Tour before rejoining The Southern Spirit and continuing along The Great Dividing Range. (BLD)

Day 3: Dubbo
Take the path less travelled as you continue towards Dubbo, nestled in the heart of New South Wales. Here, enjoy the chance to experience a Whistle Stop Tour to Taronga Western Plains Zoo, one of the world’s finest open range sanctuaries and a vital link in programs for rare and endangered species. Reboard The Southern Spirit and sit back to contemplate the changing landscapes passing by. (BLD)

Day 4: Hunter Valley
Start the Day with breakfast on board as you travel to the scenic Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s premier wine areas. Join your Whistle Stop Tour and experience the tastes of the region as you explore the many highlights. After the delights of the Hunter Valley, rejoin The Southern Spirit and have the chance to chat and share your stories with your fellow travelers. (BLD)

Day 5: Port Macquarie
Wake to experience New South Wales’ mid north coast on your way to the historic settlement town of Port Macquarie. Take the opportunity to experience a Whistle Stop Tour in this peaceful town surrounded by green fields and grazing cattle. Rejoin The Southern Spirit to travel north while enjoying a delicious three course meal in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant with new found friends. (BLD)

Day 6: Byron Bay and Brisbane
On your last Day aboard The Southern Spirit experience a Whistle Stop Tour to the small coastal village of Byron Bay. See the laid back atmosphere, pristine beaches and take your time to enjoy the Main Street on your own. Rejoin The Southern Spirit in Casino. Bid farewell to your fellow travelling companions as The Southern Spirit reaches its final destination, the vibrant capital of sunny Queensland, Brisbane. (BL)
