Kulusuk is a community of approximately 400 people. As the other settlements in Ammassalik, Kulusuk remains relatively immune to Western influence despite the regular influx of tourists, partly because the villagers follow a more traditional way of life and partly because visitors tend to only stay short-term. Kulusuk is the perfect introduction to the settlements of the Ammassalik area.
Tasiilaq is a community of approximately 1800 people. Coming to the area Ammassalik and the town of Tasillaq, you will enter the very heart of East Greenland's exceptional beauty and one of the most unspoiled arctic areas in the world. The awesome landscape has no parallel in the entire arctic. A mosaic of steep, dramatic mountains, countless lakes, streams and rivers, waterfalls, glaciers and green valleys. Ammassalik radiates a purity, which has overwhelmed and fascinated visitors throughout time.
This tour can also be booked as a side-trip from Iceland, enabling you to spend longer in Iceland before or after your visit to Greenland.
Day 1: Make your way to the domestic airport in Reykjavik for the short flight to Kulusuk and a scenic helicopter flight on to Tasiilaq. You will be met by a local representative who will transfer your to the Hotel Angmagssalik, where accommodation is confirmed for two nights. Following an information meeting you check-in and then have the balance of the day free to enjoy optional tours. Dinner at the hotel is included this evening.
Day 2: This remote community is a perfect place to hike, wander and completely relax, making this special part of the world your own. Optional excursions are available for local purchase through your guide. Dinner at the hotel is provided.
Day 3: After breakfast you will be transferred to the heliport for the short helicopter ride to Kulusuk, where you are met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel for a one night stay. The balance of the day is free to do optional tours in the area. Dinner is provided at the Hotel Kulusuk.
Day 4: The flight back to Iceland will depart in the early afternoon and arrive in time for dinner in Reykjavik. Transfer on your own to your downtown accommodation to continue your vacation in Iceland.
