Iceland Express is Iceland's low-fare airline. From February 2003, Iceland Express has helped make Iceland more accessible as a tourist destination by introducing fares up to 80% cheaper than the competition. With Iceland often featured in the top 10 of the world’s must-visit destinations, there is a clear demand for the airline‘s service. According to the Icelandic Tourism Board, tourism to Iceland has risen by over 150% since 2003, due in no small part to Iceland Express.
Iceland Express has experienced strong support from Icelanders too, who now travel abroad 35% more than when we first took to the air. The airline‘s strategy is similar to those of other low-fare airlines. There are no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, and it’s easy to book or change bookings online. It only offers e-tickets and all flights are essentially one-way.
In the summer of 2010 Iceland Express will connect the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík with 25 airports in Europe, US and Canada, including Winnipeg making Europe easily acessable to Canadians.
The fleet consist of Boeing 737-700 and 757-200‘s and is handled by Air Astraeus.
