The amazing coastline of Norway inarguably offers some of the most spectacular fjordland scenery in the world. This cruise takes you along the coastline of towering mountains, fjords and colourful villages.
Day 1: Leith, Scotland (port for Edinburgh)
Leith is the home of the Royal Yacht Britannia and gatewy to beautiful and vibrant Edinburgh, dominated by the captivating Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels. Visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse, an official residence of H.M. The Queen. It was here that Mary, Queen of Scots was slain in 1566.
Day 2: At sea
Day 3: Molde and Andalsnes, Norway
In the northern part of Norway's fjordland, this colourful town is known as the "Town of Roses". Discover the market place with its impressive City Hall, and the church perched high above the town, richly decorated by some of the country's most famous artists. On to Andalsnes. Dominated by the Andalsnes Mountain, this town lies in the pretty valley between the mountain and the tranquil waters of the fjord. It is gateway to some magnificent Norwegian scenery, including the Trolls Path, one of Europe's most amazing road with its eleven hairpin bends.
Day 4: At sea.
Day 5: Leknes, Lofoten Islands, Norway
Located on Vestvagoy Island, second largest in the island chain, this typically small Norwegian town boast the Lofoten Viking Museum, a living museum housed in a reconstruction of the biggest Viking longhouse ever found. The Vestvagoy Museum in the old schoolhouse displays everyday items from the past.
Day 6: Honningvaag, Norway
Visiting the North Cape, virtually Europe’s northernmost point, and standing in broad daylight at midnight looking out over the Arctic Ocean is one of the world’s memorable experiences. If you are lucky enough to see the Midnight Sun, it could be unforgettable.
Day 7: Tromso, Norway
Standing on an island in a narrow sound, hemmed in by soaring mountains, Tromso offers a majestic setting for the Northern Lights Observatory, Polaria, a fascinating polar adventure and exhibition centre, and also museums dedicated to geology, zoology and Lapland life.
Day 8: At sea.
Day 9: Geiranger, Norway
This pretty village nestles at the tip of perhaps Norway's most photographed fjord. The voyage along the fjord passes the famous waterfall, De Syv Sostre (The Seven Sisters), which is spectacular while Geiranger has a charm all of its own.
Day 10: At sea
Day 11: Leith, Scotland
Early morning arrival into the port for Edinburgh. You can fly home today or stay on in Scotland to do some sightseeing or go on to another destination in Europe.
