| For those short of time,
we are delighted to offer this brief
itinerary, which allows you to see the
magnificent Polar Bears as they prowl
the shores of Hudson Bay. This program
entails a long day, but it holds a reward
you will never forget!
Day 1: The tour begins in Winnipeg upon check-in at the Delta Winnipeg, located in downtown Winnipeg. (arrival transfers are not included). Day 2: An early start. The bus leaves the hotel for the airport at 6:00am, and cannot afford to wait for anyone! Our chartered Hawker Sidley 748 is scheduled to take off at 7:00am heading north to Churchill. Breakfast is served on board the aircraft. Upon your arrival in Churchill at approximately 9:45am, you will be transferred directly to the Tundra Buggy launch site where you will board your temporary home for the day. As these tours are set during the peak of the Polar Bear migration, finding the bears is generally not a problem. This unique vehicle is well heated, and washroom equipped. A hearty lunch, prepared locally, will be served on board. The buggy's over inflated tires allow unparalleled access onto the tundra. Conservation regulations restrict the routes these vehicles can follow in order to protect the fragile ecosystem of this sub-arctic region. Our experienced naturalist guide is well versed in local bear conditions. The knowledgeable Tundra Buggy driver will make every effort to ensure you have the most favorable conditions to photograph the bears. A platform on the rear of the buggy allows passengers to get an unrestricted view of the bears. We return to Churchill at dusk for dinner at Gypsy Bakery, and the opportunity to shop for some Inuit soapstone carvings or other local souvenirs. The flight for Winnipeg departs at 8:00pm, with an arrival scheduled for 10:30pm. Upon arrival you will be transferred back to the Delta hotel. (B,L,D) Day 3: This tour officially ends after breakfast at the hotel. (B) |
