Let us introduce you to the magical Arctic! This tour will take you from Churchill's tundra to view the amazing wildlife all the way to the Arctic Circle.
Day 1: Your tour begins upon arrival in Winnipeg. Spend the day strolling the exchange district and exploring the historical Forks Market in downtown Winnipeg. Visit the Manitoba Museum, a great introduction for your trip further north. Take in all the warmth that Winnipeg has to offer in the summertime and dine at one of the city's culinary gems such as the Peasant Cookery.
Day 2: Your journey to the Arctic begins! Board your early morning flight to Churchill, where you will be transferred to your hotel, the Bear Country Inn. After settling in and storing your luggage you will embark on a comprehensive town and area tour. You will be on the look-out for all of Churchill's famous wildlife! (B)
Day 3: Today you will get a town and area tour of Churchill and the surrounding area. Visit the infamous polar bear jail, Miss Piggy, the Ithica, and see any wildlife around town that your local guide may find. Take your time to enjoy the area where the true tundra really begins. This afternoon you are free to visit the famous Eskimo museum and Parks Canada museum in the train station. Stroll around Churchill and visit the gift shops, you may even try Caribou for dinner! (B)
Day 4: Today you will experience one of the best beluga whale watching experiences in the world. Get up close to the gentle giants, the belugas. This tour will also include an interpretative journey over to the Fort Prince of Wales, one of the first forts in the great fur trade. (B)
Day 5: The Arctic Circle awaits you! Board your flight to Repulse Bay, the true entry into the Arctic. Watch out the window at the landscape changes. You may see moose, polar bears, whales and caribou from the plane window! You will stroll from the airport to your hotel where you will be met by people from all over the world. Gaze at the art on display at the hotel and talk to your fellow travelers. Early this evening, a local guide will take you on a community tour. You will visit ancient ruins and explore the landscape on two different tours that encompass both the roads and trails in and around the town of Repulse Bay. You will visit an ancient village and even spot wildlife along the way. Many Inukshuks stand proudly along the roads and paths that remind you of visitors from long before our time. (B, D)
Day 6: Meet Billy – your local guide. Billy will take you into his world and onto the Arctic waters to look for narwhal, orcas, bowhead whales, seals and possibly polar bears. Your tour will transform your idea of how to really survive as Billy tells you about growing up on the Arctic Circle. Spend the rest of the day wandering around town and looking in the different shops. Enjoy the scenery and even buy some traditional art pieces. (B, L, D)
Day 7: Say good-bye to Canada's vast Arctic as you fly south to Winnipeg. Watch the landscape change once again as you head from arctic waters to the waters of Lake Winnipeg. You will be transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy what Winnipeg summers have to offer for one last night and relax as you reflect upon your journey. (B, L)
Day 8: Your tour concludes after breakfast. (B)
