Day 1: Arrive in Winnipeg and overnight
Day 2: Depart in the morning by air for the 2000 kilometre flight north to Repulse Bay, an Inuit community lying astride the Arctic Circle. Accommodation and dinner will be at the local Naujat co-op hotel.
Day 3: This morning you will be introduced to your guides and taken on a familiarisation tour of the area, allowing you to get comfortable with your skidoo and equipment. You will see the ancient Thule settlement, and learn about the traditional ways of this delightful and warm community.
Day 4: North from the Arctic Circle! The community of Kugarruk lies some 25 kilometres north of Repulse, and during the winter there is a well worn path between the villages, reflecting the closely intertwined cultures of these remote communities. Passage between the two should take between eight and nine hours depending on the weather and stops that you might chooses to make. Accommodation will be at the local Inukshuk Inn
Day 5: In Kugaaruk you are truly in the High Arctic, and we will spend a day in and around the community meeting local carvers and elders, and learning more about the rich culture of these resilient and remote people.
Day 6: South to the Arctic Circle; as odd as that sounds, today you will head south on the Skidoo Highway and return to our base at Repulse Bay.
Day 7: The southbound flight will depart in the morning, returning to Winnipeg in the late afternoon. Overnight will be at a local hotel.
Day 8: The tour ends after breakfast.
