Day 2: Today is at your leisure. Explore the Old Town, featuring panoramic views from Bush Pilot’s Monument and a variety of unique shops and cafes, or trek the scenic Prospector’s Trail across a colorful patchwork of ancient rock.
Day 3: Book a wildlife-viewing excursion or a guided canoe trip, or tour the local museum. A Great Slave Lake Fish Fry and Dinner Cruise has been arranged this evening. Enjoy a spectacular sunset and authentic northern food.
Day 4: Fly from Yellowknife to Rankin Inlet this morning. This community, meaning "Deep Bay" in Inuktitut, is the hub of the Kivalliq region. Immerse yourself in Stone-Age culture with a visit to the nearby Iqalugaarjuup Nunanga Territorial Park. This Thule Site, as well as a newly built "Qangmak", a Traditional Sod House, were seasonal dwellings for the Inuit.
Day 5: Embark on a guided boat of Marble Island. Myth, tragedy, and natural beauty surround this eerie white island, a wildlife haven and important Inuit site. It is also the location where the famous James Knight expedition of 1721 perished, while searching for the famous Northwest Passage. The remains of their ship and ancient graves can still be seen.
Day 6: Your journey continues to Winnipeg, with a direct flight this afternoon. Explore the prairie capital at your leisure – visit The Forks, the renowned Manitoba Museum, and the historic Exchange District.
