Halifax City Break
(GC9097-23)

Day 1: Arrive in Halifax and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Today is free for your to explore this friendly harbor-city. Should time permit, a visit to Pier 21 is fascinating! Now home of Canada's Immigration Museum, it was the point of entry into the country for 1.5 million immigrants, war brides, displaced people, evacuee children and military personnel between 1928 and 1971. Research services are available to allow visitors to trace the landing records of their ancestors who arrived at Pier 21 during these years.

Day 2: Enjoy a morning tour of Halifax and area, including visits to the Citadel National Historic Site, the Historic Properties, Old Town Clock, Victorian Public Gardens and the busy port. You will hear about the Halifax Explosion of WWI and the heroism and exploits of the citizens who lived through this devastating period of history. You will also visit the Titanic Burial site and learn about the role Halifax played in the days after the sinking of the Titanic.

Day 3: A Nova Scotia vacation isn't complete without a trip to breathtaking Peggy's Cove, featuring brightly painted buildings and well-worn fishing piers. This afternoon tour takes you on a scenic drive past quaint seaside communities to the spectacular scenery of this picture-postcard fishing village perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. You'll know you've arrived once you spot the signature white and red lighthouse sitting proudly on a bed of weathered gray stone, against a backdrop of ocean as far as the eye can see. Explore the rocks, visit the gift shops and wander through this photographer's paradise.

Day 4: Check out of your hotel today and transfer to the airport for your departure.

Extra nights accommodation as well as car rentals are available on request, for those who would like a bit more time to explore this unique part of Canada. Drive over to Lunenburg with her striking red buildings, explore the gentle Annapolis Valley or the area's wineries. Or travel around Cape Breton and visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, where the inventor of the telephone had his residence and drive along the famous Cabot Trail. So much to see and do!
