Day 1: Arrive in St. John's with a transfer to your centrally located hotel. Walk down to the waterfront and see the statue of Terry Fox set at the very spot on St. John's harbor where he dipped his foot in the Atlantic before embarking on his historic cross-country run to raise funds to find a cure for cancer. Take time to visit some of the shops on Water and Duckworth Streets, in particular, featuring local arts and souvenirs. Or have a cool one at one of the lively bars on George Street and tap your toes to some of the live music on offer. Who knows, you might even become an honorary Newfoundlander by "Kissing the Cod".
Day 2: Enjoy a morning tour of St. John's and area, including visits to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America, Signal Hill and the charming village of Quidi Vidi, home to the brewery that produces a fine, local beer. Visit the oldest standing lighthouse in North America, the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and enjoy an orientation of the shops and restaurants in downtown St. John's.
Day 3: Today begins with drive down the Southern shore to Bay Bulls, where you will join the O'Brien's for a boat ride out to Bird Island. Photograph the iconic Puffins, and scout for whales and icebergs along the way. Sing a few ditties with your guide while he introduces you to this unique region.
Day 4: Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your departure.
Extra nights accommodation as well as car rentals are available on request, for those who would like a bit more time to explore this unique part of Canada. Many driving routes are accessible from St. John's and are well marked including the Irish Loop, The Killick Coast and the Admiral's Coast.
