Day 1: Arrival
Following arrival in Keflavik Iceland, you will be met by a Farm Stay Representative and transferred to your accommodation in Reykjavik.
Day 2: Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss and Geysir - 160km
Pick up your 4X4 vehicle this morning and explore Iceland’s famous circle of wonders known as the “The Golden Circle”. Sights of interest include Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir hot spring area. Your accommodation for the first night will be in the area.
Day 3: Kjölur Route - 160km
Today you will cross the highland in the north direction on the route Kjölur. You will drive a plateau between two large glaciers, Langjökull and Hofsjökull. Stop by Hveravellir, a geothermal area where you can bathe. The accommodation will be in Skagafjörður area.
Days 4 & 5: Lake Mývatn area and Askja Highlands - 240km
Head for Lake Mývatn and explore the many wonders of the area. On the second day, you could go on a day tour to Askja, a highland favourite. Drive through the vast lava terrains via Herðubreiðalindir. A dip in the geothermal pool at the crater Víti is a treat. Accommodation for two nights in Mývatn area.
Day 6: Sprengisandur Highland Route - 200km
Drive the black sands of Sprengisandur back South, with rough tracks as well as crossing unbridged and unpredictable rivers. In Nýjadal, it is ideal to have a lunch break and walk in the green valley. Accommodation for this night is simple and on the outskirts of the desert.
Days 7 & 8: Landmannalaugar color feast and Lakagígar craters - 100km
Drive to Landmannalaugar and enjoy its colorful area, with the possibility of a bath in a naturally warm river. After lunch you will drive Fjallabaksleið towards Eldgjá to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, where you will stay for the next two nights. For the second day the schedule is to go on a day trip to Lakagígar. It is a 25 km row of volcanic fissures that erupted in 1783.
Day 9: South Coast back to Reykjavik - 260km
Drive back to Reykjavik, passing the village Vík and continuing with a view of the waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Return rental vehicle and transfer to your accommodation for one night.
Day 10: Blue Lagoon and Departure
After breakfast you will check-out of your hotel and transfer to Keflavik airport for your flight home. An optional stop at the Blue Lagoon en route is available for pre-booking. If you choose to stop at the Blue Lagoon your baggage will be stored in a secure facility for you while you enjoy a soak in the lagoon or treat yourself to a massage. Transfer from the lagoon to the airport for your flight.
