Winter Super Truck Expedition
(008202F-20)

There are many things to discover during the winter in Iceland - snow, glaciers, rivers, mountains, black sand beaches and the winter darkness. The weather, road conditions, travelling off the beaten track and the guide's expertise are fundamental elements of this itinerary.

Day 1: Arrive at the Keflavik International Airport in Iceland and transfer to the Blue Lagoon where you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the restorative aqua water. Make sure to keep your bathing suit and towel handy in your checked bag or in your carry-on. Your baggage will be safely stored in a locked storage room while you are at the spa. Why not treat yourself to an in-water massage before continuing on to your accommodation in Reykjavik for a one night stay.

Day 2: In the morning you will meet your driver-guide. The day's itinerary will be introduced, the GPS prepared and then the group is ready to depart. The focus is on experiencing nature, to be an explorer rather than just a traveller.  The expedition leader will either take you to Reykjanes peninsula, boasting moon like landscapes, dented coastline, lava fields, volcanoes and craters or to the south coast of Iceland and its black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls and mossy lava fields. Either route chosen sees the day end at the charming country-hotel Hekla, where a 3-course dinner will be served. The rural surroundings of the hotel provide ideal conditions, on a clear night, to observe the Northern Lights from the hot tubs just beside the hotel.

Day 3: There will be a briefing this morning before starting today's expedition. Visit Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most impressive in Iceland and the highly active Geysir geothermal area. Then head towards Lake Þingvellir and the National Park. If time allows, you can enjoy some mountain adventure, crossing rivers and snow fields. Return to Reykjavik in the afternoon for an overnight stay.

Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast, take a short stroll downtown, finish packing and check out of your hotel.   Your transfer bus will pick you up at the pre-arranged time so be sure to be ready and waiting in the lobby approximately 30 minutes prior to your booked time.  You will be transferred to the airport for some duty-free shopping and your flight home on Icelandair.

NOTE: This is an expedition, so the day by day program is for guideline only. This is in the best interest of the group and all participants as the program may be adjusted without notice according to weather and road conditions.
